How To Measure PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter)

pcd.png

PCD on a 4 stud hub or rim is a straight line from the centre of one stud/hole, over the large centre hole onto the centre of the other stud/hole on the opposite side.

The same principle applies with a 5 stud rim or hub, the only difference is there is no stud or hole directly opposite the stud you’re measuring from. You will need to imagine there is a hole (As illustrated above) and take a straight line from the centre of one stud/hole across the large centre to the imaginary hole/stud that you have created between the opposite two studs.

How To Measure an Axle

Solid Beam Axles

solid-beam-axles.png

To find out the size of your current solid beam axle please check the measurement of (B) the OHF (Outer Hub Face), This is the measurement from the outer of one hub face to the otter of the other hub face, knowing as PCD.

The next measurment you need is the thickness of the beam (A) this will normally be 45mm or 50mm in most cases. Also you will need to confirm the PCD of the hub, to check this please refer to the drawings above.

Rubber Suspension Beam Axles

(A) To find out the size of your current Rubber suspension beam axle please check the measurement of (A) the OHF (Outer Hub Face), This is the measurement from the outer of one hub face to the otter of the other hub face, knowing as PCD.
(B) This is the called the cut length, it is the full length of the box secetion of the axle.
(C) The fixing centre distance (FC), Measure from the centre of one hole of the fixing bracket to the centre of the opposite fixing bracket hole.
(D&E) Measure the length and width of your fixing bracket.
